The Mission

To promote community engagement, childhood creativity, and access to collectible hobbies by distributing donated trading card games (TCGs), primarily Pokémon cards, to youth programs, hospitals, schools, and shelters. We also aim to support young players by helping cover travel costs to attend regional and national TCG tournaments, fostering equitable access to competitive play.

Born in Aurora, Colorado

We’re Joe, Matt, and Austin, three lifelong friends who grew up collecting, trading, and battling with Pokémon cards. From ripping open packs in the ’90s to sorting hundreds of thousands of cards as adults, this hobby has always been a huge part of our lives. Over the years, we noticed something important: most collectors end up with boxes of extra cards they don’t use, don’t have space for, or simply don’t know what to do with. Many of those cards eventually get thrown away.

At the same time, we’ve watched the hobby become harder for kids to access. Store shelves are empty, prices are inflated, and families often struggle to find cards at fair retail value. Kids today deserve to experience the same joy, wonder, and community that we did, but the reality is, many can’t.

That realization was the spark that led us to create The PokéHeart Foundation.

The PokéHeart Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to trading card games, primarily the Pokémon TCG, for children in need. Through generous donations from collectors, stores, and community members, we collect and responsibly redistribute cards to teachers, youth leaders, hospitals, libraries, shelters, and community programs across the country.

Every donated card is sorted, verified, and thoughtfully allocated so kids can enjoy the hobby, learn the game, and feel included in a community that often brings friendship, confidence, and creativity.

We also understand the impact the Pokémon TCG has beyond collecting. We’ve traveled across states, countries, and continents to compete ourselves, and we’ve seen firsthand how transformative the competitive scene can be for kids. However, travel expenses, tournament fees, and deck-building costs are major barriers that prevent talented young players from advancing, even when they have the skills to compete at higher levels or even qualify for the World Championships.

That’s why we created the PokéHeart Player Fund.

A portion of every donation, every sale, and every membership directly supports young competitors and their families by helping them afford the travel, tournament entry fees and get them the essential cards they need for their decks.

Every card we donate has a purpose.

Teachers use them as behavior rewards, learning tools, and ways to teach strategy and social skills. Libraries use them for community game nights and learn-to-play events that bring kids together. In hospitals, these cards provide a comforting moment of joy for children going through a difficult time.

We’re just getting started. With your support, we can reach more kids, empower more players, and build a future where the hobby is accessible to everyone.

Let’s make a difference, one donation, one deck, one kid at a time.
